Key points
- GG = both teams score at least once; 1-1, 2-1 and 3-3 all win.
- NG = at least one team does not score; 0-0, 1-0 and 4-0 all win.
- GG and NG are the same market as BTTS Yes and BTTS No on apps that use the English label.
- Settlement is on 90 minutes plus stoppage time; extra time and penalties do not count.
Two letters sit beside Arsenal v Chelsea on the slip a friend sends you from Madina: GG. Next to Hearts of Oak v Medeama it says NG. The GG and NG meaning in betting is one question asked two ways. GG means goal goal, both teams to score. NG means no goal, which does not mean a goalless match; it means at least one of the two teams fails to score. That second definition is where most slips go wrong.
What GG means in betting
GG in betting is a yes to one question: will both sides find the net before the final whistle? The scoreline does not matter beyond that. 1-1, 2-1, 3-2 and 4-4 all pay. Betway Ghana's rules describe the market's objective as correctly predicting whether both teams will score in the match. On apps written in English the same market is labelled Both Teams To Score, or BTTS, with Yes in place of GG.
A GH₵20 stake on GG at 1.80 returns GH₵36 if both teams score, whoever wins. Picture Hearts leading Medeama 1-0 until the 88th minute and Medeama equalising: GG lands. The odds in this piece are illustrations, not a price from any operator.
What NG means in betting
NG in betting is the no. It wins whenever at least one team fails to score, so 0-0, 1-0, 0-3 and 5-0 are all NG results. Some slip guides describe NG as neither team scoring. That reading is wrong for the market as bookmakers settle it: the question is both teams, and a 2-0 answers it with a no. A GH₵20 stake on NG at 1.95 returns GH₵39 on any of those scorelines.
Look for GG/NG as the market name, with GG and NG as the two selections under it. On one app the selection reads NG, on another it reads No, and on a third it reads BTTS No. They settle the same way.
GG combos: GG and Over 2.5, 1X and GG
GG combos pair the market with a second condition in one selection. GG and Over 2.5 asks for both teams to score and at least three goals in total. A 2-1 wins; a 1-1 does not, because it is only two goals. 1X and GG asks for the home side to win or draw and both teams to score. A 2-1 or a 1-1 wins. A 2-0 fails the GG half, and a 1-2 fails the 1X half.
Both halves must land, which is why the price is higher. GH₵20 on Kotoko v Hearts at 1X and GG priced 2.60 returns GH₵52, against GH₵36 on GG alone at 1.80. The extra GH₵16 is payment for the second condition, and the second condition is a second way to lose. Pulse Ghana's February 2026 piece on EPL and GPL betting lists BTTS beside home win, draw, away win and over/under as the picks punters here combine most. A slip that stacks GG across five EPL matches at 1.80 each multiplies to about 18.9. GH₵20 would return roughly GH₵378 if all five land, and nothing if one side blanks in any of them.
When GG and NG bets are settled
GG and NG bets are settled on the 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Betway Ghana's rules say all match markets are based on the result at the end of a scheduled 90 minutes unless otherwise stated. Extra time, a penalty shootout and golden goal are excluded. A knockout tie at 0-0 after 90 minutes that finishes 1-1 in extra time is NG on the slip. The same goes for an AFCON or World Cup tie decided on penalties: the shootout goals never touch the GG line.
Check your operator's wording on own goals and on abandoned matches before you rely on either. Betway's page voids any match abandoned before 90 minutes are completed, with bets already decided at that point still standing. If you want to watch the match while a GG bet runs, the live streaming betting sites page lists which licensed apps carry pictures. The ranking of betting sites in Ghana shows which brands hold a Gaming Commission licence. Betting is for adults aged 18 and over; the Gaming Commission's line is 0800 454 545 if betting stops being fun.

Questions and answers
What does GG mean in betting?
GG stands for goal goal: both teams score at least once in the match. Any scoreline from 1-1 upwards where neither side is on zero wins. It is the same selection as Both Teams To Score Yes on apps that use the English label.
What does NG mean in football betting?
NG stands for no goal, the no side of the both teams to score market. It wins when at least one team fails to score, which includes 0-0, 1-0, 2-0 and 0-4. It does not require a goalless draw.
Does GG mean both teams score in the first half?
No. Standard GG covers the full 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Apps that offer a first-half version label it separately, for example GG 1st Half or Both Teams To Score 1st Half, with its own odds.
Is GG the same as BTTS?
Yes. GG and BTTS Yes are two labels for the same selection, and NG matches BTTS No. The letters come from goal goal and no goal; the English label spells out both teams to score. Settlement is identical.
Does a 0-0 count as GG or NG?
NG. Nobody scored, so both teams did not score, and the no wins. The same is true of 1-0 and 3-0; NG is not limited to goalless draws, which is the point most slips miss.
