What are crash games, and how does Aviator decide when the plane flies off?

What are crash games? A stake, a multiplier that rises from 1.00x, and one button to press before the plane disappears. Aviator from Spribe is the title most Ghanaian casino lobbies carry. Here is how cash out and auto cash out work, what the return to player figure costs you in cedis, and why no round can be read from the one before it.

Key points

  • A crash round pays stake times the multiplier at the moment you cash out; stay in past the crash and the stake is gone.
  • Spribe says Aviator first went live in February 2019 and was on more than 300 operators within its first year.
  • The return to player figure sits in the rules panel inside the game; a 95 percent RTP is a 5 percent house edge over long play.
  • Each round is settled from fresh seeds, so a run of low crashes says nothing about the next one.

You have seen it on the phone of the man beside you at the tro-tro station. A small red plane climbs across a dark screen while a number ticks up, 1.20x, 1.85x, 2.40x, and then it is gone. That is a crash game. You stake money, a multiplier rises from 1.00x, and you press cash out before the plane flies off. Cash out at 2.40x on a GH₵20 stake and you collect GH₵48. Wait one tick too long and the GH₵20 is gone.

What are crash games: the multiplier and the cash out

Crash games strip casino play down to one decision: when to leave. Every round starts at 1.00x, the number climbs, and at a point fixed before the round began it stops. Anyone still in the round loses the stake. Anyone who cashed out earlier is paid stake times multiplier.

Aviator, the game from the studio Spribe, is the title most Ghanaian lobbies carry. Spribe's own news page says it first went live in February 2019 and was on more than 300 operators within a year. Rounds last seconds, there is a chat window, and other players' stakes and cash-outs scroll on the same screen.

Auto cash out is the setting that presses the button for you. Type 1.50x before the round and the game pays you at 1.50x whether or not you are watching. Many punters run two bets at once, one on a low auto cash out and one left to ride. Both face the same crash point, so the second bet carries all the risk.

What are crash games worth over time: the return to player

Crash games show a return to player figure, shortened to RTP, in the rules panel inside the game. RTP is the share of all stakes the game pays back over a very long run of rounds. A ModernGhana explainer from July 2026 walked through a football-themed crash title that lists a 95 percent RTP, which it described as a 5 percent house edge across long-term play.

Put cedis on that. A punter who stakes GH₵20 a round and plays 50 rounds in an evening has put GH₵1,000 through the game. At a 5 percent edge the expected loss is GH₵50. At a 3 percent edge it is GH₵30. Some nights end up and some end badly down; the edge is what remains once the swings average out. Open the rules panel on the site you use and read the figure there before you stake.

The same ModernGhana piece cited a study of 1,041 crash rounds in which 41.8 percent were profitable for players. Fewer than half of rounds pay, and the 50x and 100x results that make the chat scroll are rare.

Is the Aviator round random, or can the crash point be read?

The Aviator round is settled by what Spribe calls Provably Fair technology. The crash point is produced from a seed generated on the server and seeds supplied from the players' side, combined through a hash function. After the round the game shows those inputs, so the result can be recomputed and checked.

For you the meaning is plain. Each round is independent. Five low crashes in a row say nothing about the sixth. A 100x in the history bar makes the next 100x neither nearer nor further away. Anyone selling a predictor or a signal for the game is selling noise, and the money you pay for it is the only sure loss.

What to check before a GH₵20 stake

  1. Confirm the site is on the Gaming Commission of Ghana register of licensed operators. The register lists each trade name with its licence dates, and the current licences run to 31 December 2026.
  2. Be 18 or older; the same register covers online casino licences, which is where Aviator sits.
  3. Set the cash budget before you open the game, and leave the auto cash out at a figure you chose with a clear head.

The harm is not theoretical. In December 2024 Yen.com.gh reported the account of a 32-year-old man speaking to Nana Aba Anamoah. He said he had taken more than GH₵150,000 from his employer to fund Aviator play and was in therapy. He said the game made money feel like numbers on a screen. If play stops feeling like a choice, talk to a doctor or a counsellor, and the Gaming Commission takes calls on its toll-free line 0800 454 545.

Crash games sit in the casino lobby of the licensed betting sites in Ghana, beside slots and virtuals. The online casinos in Ghana page shows which licensed brands carry Aviator and how a MoMo deposit reaches the lobby.

Questions and answers

What are crash games in betting?

Casino games built around a rising multiplier. You stake, the number climbs from 1.00x, and you cash out before it stops. Cash out in time and you are paid stake times multiplier; stay in past the crash and the stake is lost. Aviator by Spribe is the best-known example.

How does auto cash out work in Aviator?

You set a multiplier before the round, for example 1.50x. If the plane reaches that figure the game pays you automatically, whether or not you press anything. If the crash comes first, the stake is lost like any other bet in that round.

Is Aviator rigged or random?

Spribe settles each round with its Provably Fair system: a server seed and players' seeds are combined through a hash to fix the crash point, and the inputs are shown after the round for checking. Each round is independent of the ones before it.

How much does a crash game keep from my stakes?

The return to player figure in the game's rules panel tells you. A 95 percent RTP means a 5 percent house edge over a long run, so GH₵1,000 put through the game at GH₵20 a round carries an expected loss of about GH₵50.

Is Aviator legal in Ghana?

Online casino games are offered legally by operators holding an online casino licence from the Gaming Commission of Ghana. Check the trade name on the Commission's register before you deposit, and you must be 18 or older to play.
