MTN MoMo betting sites in Ghana: cashier names, wallet limits, MTN fees and payouts

The MTN MoMo route carries two names across the cashiers that publish it. BetWinner’s Ghana cashier prints MTN on its deposit tab, GH₵1 to GH₵5,000 a prompt, and again on its withdrawal tab, GH₵1 to GH₵10,000 a request. Both are marked no fees. 1xBet prints MTN with a GH₵1 deposit floor, a GH₵2 withdrawal floor and no ceiling on either tab. BC.Game prints the MoMo logo on its home page under Pay Your Way and keeps the figures inside the account. 22Bet prints nothing before login. Once you have found the entry, the rest is the same prompt and MoMo PIN as buying airtime.

An MTN wallet sits in one of three Bank of Ghana tiers, and the tier matters more to a punter than any cashier figure. The caps took effect on 1 March 2024, as Graphic Online reported from the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications. A minimum wallet, the one a Ghana Card alone gives you, holds GH₵5,000 and moves GH₵3,000 a day, with GH₵10,000 a month. A medium wallet holds GH₵40,000 and moves GH₵15,000 a day; an enhanced wallet holds GH₵75,000 and moves GH₵25,000 a day. The balance cap counts whatever is already in the wallet, so a GH₵1,500 payout into a minimum wallet holding GH₵4,000 can be refused by the network. Check the cashier’s transaction status.

Reading your own tier on *170#

1. Dial *170#, choose My Wallet, press # for the next page and choose Check Wallet Limits; MTN’s help centre describes the menu.
2. Enter the PIN and read the SMS: daily, monthly and balance limits, and how much of each you have used.
3. To move from minimum to medium, choose Upgrade Profile Type on the same menu, as MTN’s upgrade page sets out. The enhanced tier needs an online request with your Ghana Card and a proof of address.

MTN’s prompt shows any charge before you enter the PIN, and the cashiers at BetWinner and 1xBet mark MoMo deposits no fee. The cost of the deposit is therefore whatever the approval prompt prints above the PIN field. The E-Levy of 1% on transfers stopped on 2 April 2025, as MTN’s notice confirms. The GRA directed charging entities to refund any E-Levy taken on or after that date. The charges that remain are at the agent. MTN’s cash-out schedule takes 1% on a withdrawal of GH₵50 to GH₵2,000 and a flat GH₵20 from GH₵2,000 upward, as 3News reported in February 2024 for 1 March 2024. Amounts under GH₵50 cost GH₵0.50, and MTN’s current tariff is the one to check before a large cash-out. Cashing out a GH₵500 win therefore costs GH₵5 at the agent, and a GH₵3,000 win GH₵20.

None of those is a bookmaker charge, and none is a tax: the 10% withheld from winnings until April 2025 is gone, as the betting tax guide sets out.

A welcome bonus needs more than the cashier floor. BetWinner’s sports bonus opens at GH₵5, 1xBet’s first-deposit bonus at GH₵15 and BC.Game’s booster at GH₵60.
